Branding Photography for Oahu-Based Professional: Emily Choy

As an Oahu-based photographer, I specialize in capturing beautiful moments and creating stunning images. But did you know that I also offer professional branding sessions? I had the pleasure of working with Emily Choy, a talented photographer who was in need of new branding photos to showcase her personality and charisma. Working with a fellow photographer like Emily was especially exciting for me and there was definitely some self-pressure to do my very best.

From the beginning, Emily had a clear idea of the type of images she wanted to create for her brand photography. She wanted to showcase her warmth and outgoing personality as well as her charisma.

For me, it’s always an honor when professional photographers hire me to take their portraits. It shows that they see my talent and trust me to portray them in the best light. It was all about highlighting what makes her special and unique in the industry.

My Photography Studio and Its Portraiture Possibilities

For Emily’s brand photography session, we decided to shoot in my photography studio located in Chinatown of Honolulu. My studio is a small space but has so many possibilities for portraiture. It’s filled with natural light, which makes it perfect for the type of photos we wanted to capture.

We decided to schedule the shoot for mid-afternoon when the sun was highest in the sky. During this time, the studio is lit by natural window light, which is the perfect lighting to create a soft, warm glow for portrait photography. Emily brought a few outfit changes to show a variety of looks and moods in her images. The natural lighting and the neutral backdrop allowed us to focus on Emily and bring out her natural beauty.

Throughout the branding photography session, I encouraged Emily to let her personality shine through. I understand the importance of feeling comfortable and relaxed during a photoshoot. I always strive to create a fun and stress-free environment for my clients, and Emily’s branding session was no exception.

One of my favorite photos from Emily’s branding session was from a side view. In this photo, she was wearing a black outfit and seated on a chair with her right leg bent and her arm resting on it. She looked very charismatic, powerful, and full of vision as she was looking straight and smiling. That photo in my opinion perfectly captures Emily.

Another favorite of mine is a portrait of Emily in her floral dress and white boots, wearing her biggest smile as she sat on the steps. This photo highlights Emily’s feminine and delicate side, while also incorporating her lovely personality.
