There’s something truly special about photographing couples in unique, once-in-a-lifetime locations. This private beach on Oahu engagement is a prime example. As a wedding photographer in Hawaii, I’ve been to some of the most breathtaking spots, but every so often, a couple takes me somewhere completely new—and that’s exactly what happened during this engagement session.

A Private Military Base Beach Experience

This sweet couple invited me to a private beach on Oahu for their engagement and I could hardly contain my excitement. It’s rare to have the opportunity to photograph in such a secluded, untouched place, and I knew from the moment we arrived that this was going to be an unforgettable session.

A Paradise of Our Own

The beach was almost completely ours, with only three other people in sight. It felt like we had stepped into our own little paradise, surrounded by golden sands, gentle waves, and the kind of peaceful stillness you can only find in remote locations. We embraced every moment, playing in the sand, dipping our toes in the ocean, and capturing their love in the most natural and beautiful way.

A Sunset to Remember at a Private Beach on Oahu

As the sun began to set behind the mountains, we looked out in the distance and could see the very mountain range where our homes are nestled. The sky turned a dreamy shade of pink, casting the most stunning glow over the couple. It was the kind of sunset that makes you pause, take a deep breath, and feel completely in awe of the world around you.

The Beauty of Film Photography

For this session, I also included some film photography, which added an extra layer of nostalgia and depth to their collection. Film is an added expense on my part, but it’s one that I find so worth it—it brings a timeless, romantic quality to the images that digital just can’t replicate.
