A personal branding session is like dipping into the crafts of another professional. This is the best part about my own craft. Being a branding photographer, I get to see the person behind each amazing product and service on the market. Personal branding is your fingerprint in the business world. It shows what makes you unique. You’re introducing yourself to your clients and your target audience, making a statement that will hopefully spark their interest to try and engage with your products.

PERSONAL BRANDING AND THE RISE OF EMPOWERED WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS

This is one of the many personal branding sessions that made me feel proud to be a woman independently creating impactful craft by being a branding photographer. In this session, I had the pleasure to work with a fellow entrepreneur – Michelle, the beautiful owner of Juniper Calligraphy.

Michelle is an Oahu-based artist who specialized in calligraphy and painted bottles of high-end perfume bottles. She started off with one pointed pen with dip ink. She practiced, watched tutorial videos, and joined calligraphy classes. Now she has made ripples through hundreds of happy clients, including customers who purchased luxury perfume bottles.

SOME VINTAGE-EUROPEAN TOUCH IN MY STUDIO

Michelle chose to do her personal branding photoshoot at Megan’s studio for a clean, polished, and luxurious aesthetic. The studio allowed her to create images that felt high-end yet approachable. I read on her website that she loves anything vintage-European styled so we chose a background with a hint of vintage color. Additionally, the studio also has Palladian windows – which are Italian – where we took some black and white photos as well.

Her personal brand is centered on classic fits, elegant and elevated. For this session, she wore plain colors which I think perfectly represents her as she can create art on any plain canvas. I also love how the studio’s vintage setup complemented Michelle’s modern look. The photos turned out great for her business website.

Personal branding photos are so important for any entrepreneur whose brand includes themselves. The rise in female entrepreneurs in the past decade has prompted the development of Personal Branding Photoshoots. These photos are used in all of their marketing and advertising needs. These business owners will show their audience who they are in the form of photographs and short-form video clips. Who they are as a person, woman, or entrepreneur plays a huge part in the success of their business.

As a branding photographer, I made it my mission to put the spotlight on my clients and ensure that their names will gleam from my lens to their target audience. This way, the brand owners are appreciated as much as their works are.

That’s why my favorite photo of Michelle from our session is the one where she’s wearing a plain white top and black pants, sitting on a black and white accent chair, and holding her pointed pen with a bright, colorful smile on her radiant face. From the photo, you can sense her light personality and her passion to create beauty through calligraphy.
