Where is Kualoa Regional Park

Your family or high school senior portraits will look fantastic at Kualoa Regional Park for the reasons I’ll outline in this blog post. Firstly, this location is one of my favorites for its unique scenery that reminds me of my favorite movie growing up, Jurassic Park (The original). Kualoa Regional Park is located on the east side of Oahu also known as The Windward side. It’s before the town of Laie but after the town of Kaneohe. It’s a popular park for beachgoers and picnics. There will be alot of bbq’s and music filling the air.

Is Kualoa Park Known For Its Mountain Range

Yes! Many of my family session clients choose this spot because of these amazing mountains. Granted, it not your usual beach Hawaii photos, but that is exactly why people choose here. It is different, though still VERY “Hawaii.” This mountain range offers a sense of scale to your images. It’s a grand presence in the background of all your images.

Reasons to Choose This Location

Are you planning a nice dinner after your family or senior portraits? How about a night activity that you can’t miss? Then this location is a perfect solution because I shoot here TWO hours BEFORE sunset time. The reason I photograph my clients 2 hours before sunset is because the light will stream in from behind the mountains 2 hours before sunset. These mountains are huge and the sun will fall behind it, 2 hours before sunset. This creates a beautiful look to your photos. The light streams in through the mountain ranges.

What is the Vibe at Kualoa Regional Park?

The photos speak for themselves. This portrait spot is downright beautiful. The overall vibe of the area is a ‘public park.’ It is a very popular spot for locals who are spending time with their families and friends. We come here to gather, talk story, eat great food and listen to music. You can expect to see and hear the activity that any park entails.
