Polo Beach at Mokuleia

Mokuleia on Oahu is a popular destination for families that are vacationing with their extended relatives and a popular spot for photos. I believe that large families choose the north shore of Oahu for their trip because you can find a plethora of legal vacation rentals in the nearby towns. Furthermore, when with your entire family doing a large photo session can be a bit more challenging, so choosing a spot that is close to your accommodations is a huge plus.

Pros vs Cons of Family Photos at Polo Beach

Polo beach is located about 10 minutes away from the heart of Haleiwa town. It’s a large white sand beach with Ironwoods trees lining the shore. To get here you will need to park on the main highway and walk to this particular sandy area. It does get a direct sunset view since it’s on the north-west side of the island.

Pros:

1. Large white sand beach
2. Won’t be too crowded with other beachgoers nor photoshoots
3. Direct sunset views

Cons:

1. The walk is about 10 minutes so it might not be ideal for family members who are less than mobile
2. Parking on the main highway can mean break ins – do not keep any valuables in your car.
