Oahu’s Sunset Ranch Destination Wedding Photographer with Miranda and Drew

August 24, 2022

Where is Sunset Ranch on Oahu

Sunset Ranch is a large working ranch on the north shore of Oahu in the state of Hawaii and is a popular destination wedding venue for overseas clients. This venue is located approximately 1 hour drive from Waikiki or Aulani. Sunset ranch is nestled high in the hills of Pupukea with views of the rolling hills below. Contrary to what you might assume, although it is located on the north shore, you will have sunset views since it’s more precisely located on the north-west. You’ll drive through some winding country roads and a sleepy neighborhood (please drive slowly).

What Makes Sunset Ranch Unique

This is a Hawaiian venue that offers a few distinct scenic features that many brides and grooms will appreciate. The primary two are their most commonly used ceremony site and the lawn that overlooks the hills and ocean. The ceremony site shown in Miranda and Drew’s wedding is surrounded by the largest trees and ferns you could imagine. There isn’t any other venue on Oahu that has this look and feel for your ceremony.

The large lawn that overlooks the pasture and ocean is especially spectacular during sunset as you’ll watch it set while your reception takes place. You could even incorporate their horse into your newlywed sunset portraits!

Any photographer will love the bridal suite at Sunset Ranch! It is a most beautiful room that all brides deserve. It is a high ceiling cottage room with floor to ceiling windows. These windows offers a very flattering light for bridal portraits and getting ready moments.

Travel Key Points

Living on Oahu for the better part of a decade I’ve learned that traffic isn’t always quick and this needs to be a consideration when making your wedding day plans. My clients stayed in Waikiki and hired 2 commercial busses to transport all of their guests to and from the venue. This is exactly what I would suggest if you are not booking room accommodations in Haleiwa. After partying and drinking at your wedding, you don’t want to drive yourself 1 hour into Waikiki. For obvious safety reasons but also because you should have to worry about driving, instead you should have the freedom to party! This goes for all of your guests.
