Kaua'i also called "The Garden Isle" is the island I was born and raised on! With this in mind, I do know the island very very well. I may be biased but I do think it is the most beautiful place not only in Hawaii but in the world. It's called The Garden Isle because of how lush it is. Unlike the other islands, you don't have to drive to "find" where the trees and vines and rainforest are...it's everywhere. You'll see it when you first land and everywhere you go is lush. It's one of the less developed islands in terms of conveniences and infrastructure and for this reason, many locations on island require some effort to arrive at. Regardless of how we get there, every location is gorgeous and will satisfy your need for that quintessential Hawaiian feel. There are some locations that I refuse to photograph at, like the taro fields of Hanalei & Wailua Falls because, as a Kauai native, I know the rules and respect the sacredness of certain areas. Some areas hold an immense level of reverence for all people born and raised on Kauai and should be respected by all who visit and work on Kauai. These places are more than a photo backdrop. BUT the following locations listed below are totally cool to shoot at and are some of my all time favorites!
Fun Facts about Kaua'i
- The official island color is purple
- King Kamehameha did not conquer the island
- Kauai is the oldest of all the major islands
- Mount Waialeale is the wettest spot on earth...it rains every day
Take a look at these location ideas as you are planning your Maui wedding, engagement, couples, maternity or family photo session. And remember, if you have a location not listed hear, please tell me. I am all ears!
